Description
Among the many session recordings from Jaco’s lifetime, this is said to be the rarest, and was recorded directly from a high-quality audience master recently unearthed at an instrument convention in Anaheim, California on January 26, 1979. First of all, this convention is a legendary session featuring Jaco and Joe Diorio, the guitarist who was Pat Metheny’s mentor during his time at Berklee, as well as Attila Zoller, who is from Hungary and has many fans in Japan, and Carl Barnett on drums. The recording time is 54 minutes, and although the actual number of songs, duration, and other detailed information is unknown, the live performance itself is excellent, and the combination of Jaco’s aggressive playing and Diorio’s guitar, which was said to be a master, is very interesting. They also performed Miles’ familiar “It’s About That Time” and the standard masterpiece “Stella By Starlight,” and Jaco’s drumming can be heard on the opening number. This is a must-listen item for fans, as such recordings from the 70s are extremely rare. 1.Unknown Title 2.Unknown Title 3.It’s About That Time / Jam 4.Jam 5.Stella By Starlight 6.Blues / Jam [Live at NAMM convention, Anaheim, CA, USA, January 26th 1979] Jaco Pastorius – bass, drums(t01) / Joe Diorio – guitar / Attila Zoller – guitar / Carl Burnett – drums
