Description

The second edition of Master Taper “Crazy S.” City’s treasured master collection “THE DEFINITIVE YEARS” is now available and is being reissued! A gem of the super golden age “THE BEAST ON THE ROAD 1982”, “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR 1984”, and “SOMEWHERE ON TOUR 1986″ live performances directly converted to CD from the original cassette. Now, let’s take a look at each live individually. [Disc 1 and 2] The first thing that appears is the “March 9, 1982 Oxford” performance from “THE BEAST ON THE ROAD 1982”. Although it is a tour that was not included in the first edition, this is also a masterpiece master recognized by enthusiasts around the world. From this tour, the sound board sound sources of Hammersmith on March 20th and Palladium on June 29th, which were made official, are known, but this work is a masterpiece recording that is rated second only to them. The sound has a strong treble, but the musical tones stand out clearly. Although there are loud cheers between songs, during the performance, the performance is so complete that you wonder, “Where did the audience go?” The stage depicted with that sound is an explosive live performance that makes you think it’s from the Diano era. Clive Burr’s drumming, which leaves a strong impression of NWOBHM’s body odor, is full of a wild rush even in complex songs, and young Bruce Dickinson’s ferocious shouts are added to it… This is the kind of catharsis that can only be experienced with “THE BEAST ON THE ROAD 1982”!! Even when “Murders In The Rue Morgue” and “Another Life” are re-performed in the 21st century, the momentum and power are completely different. In addition, Disc 2 includes a bonus of 5 songs (+ DJ) of the valuable FM sound source “July 17, 1982 Los Angeles Performance”. As expected, the sound is not as good as Hammersmith or Palladium, but it is a rare item that even core collectors tend to overlook. It is an indispensable sound source for the few “THE BEAST ON THE ROAD 1982” soundboard collections. [Discs 3 and 4] Next is the 26th performance “September 18, 1984 Ipswitch” from the heyday of “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR 1984-1985”. The first part included the Sheffield performance, but this work is the next day. As expected, the content of the show was very similar since it was only the next day… or so I thought! Both the performance and the sound are better than this one! As mentioned in the first commentary, “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR” was the toughest tour in IRON MAIDEN’s history, with 187 live performances in 331 days. It was done. In fact, they continued to perform at a pace of once every 1.8 days for an entire year. Due to this hard tour, Dickinson became more and more tired towards the latter half of the tour, which was a sign of his continued poor vocal performance in the late 1980s. And, speaking of “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR”, “LIVE AFTER DEATH” and ROCK IN RIO, which immediately come to mind, are the latter half of the live. However, on the Europe/UK dates at the beginning of this tour, they will be roaring with powerful vocalizations that are similar to their previous song, “WORLD PIECES YOUR 1983.” As expected, “Aces High is not exactly like the studio,” but the vocals that rise as the show progresses give you plenty of the taste of the heyday. This is the real “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR”! [Disc 5/6] The last is the “Newcastle October 24, 1986” performance from “SOMEWHERE ON TOUR 1986”. This is also a great recording where the wonderful “Crazy S. sound” explodes throughout. In the first edition, we recorded the Sheffield performance, one of the four major masters of this tour, but the sound of this work is no less. Depending on your tastes…well, even if you’re the same person, depending on your mood that day, it’s not surprising that you might prefer this work. There are a lot of great recordings from the 1986 UK tour (most of them are Crazy S.’s works, which is amazing), but this is a beautiful gem with one of the clearest and most vivid sounds. Even more amazing than that sound is the live content. The day after the Sheffield performance, which included the first recording, Dickinson became ill and had a historically bad live performance, but then took a four-day break. This work is the fourth performance of the restarted tour, and Dickinson will also listen to his usual performance. In fact, the sound and live performances were so great that it was even released individually as “NEWCASTLE STRANGERS (Shades 103)”. A 6-disc set that condenses the definitive master as much as the shocking first volume. And it’s not just a collection of powerful sound sources, it’s the same taper and the same British recording, so you can feel the progress of the “golden IRON MAIDEN history” just by listening to it. This is a work full of historical spectacle that is only possible because of the huge set. Combined with the first reissue, this is a 12-disc set of 7 live shows. Enjoy this blockbuster series that will keep you immersed in MAIDEN until you give up!
