Description

A studio album of the highest quality compilation of early demos/outtakes is here. This work includes everything from the first recording at HOLLYWOOD ROSE to the early sessions of “USE YOUR ILLUSION”. This three-disc set of the highest quality chronicles the journey of Indiana teens Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin as they grew into world-shaking monsters. These early demos/outtakes have been titled in the past, but this work was re-compiled by a core overseas maniac. There are quite a few takes that are the same as those already released, but the genes and noise of each song have been carefully examined. It is woven together with the “best” that exists. This work is a meticulous remastering of that maniac collection. To be honest, many of GUNS N’ ROSES’ early demos are out of pitch even if they are the best take. The overseas maniacs mentioned above chose the best take, but left it as it was, and about 80% of the pitch was out of pitch. In this work, they are all just right, and the previously inconsistent volume and sound pressure are evenly adjusted. It has achieved a level of quality that can be listened to all at once as a “studio work”. Now, let’s take a closer look at the contents. [Disc 1: HOLLYWOOD ROSE Demo (1981)] First up are four demo songs by HOLLYWOOD ROSE, a group formed by Axl and Izzy. They have already performed the original songs “Anything Goes” and “Reckless Life”, and also performed an unreleased song called “Taxi Driver” by some. What is even more striking is the singing voice of Axl, who was a teenager at the time (19 years old)! Although his singing voice was already very unique and impressive, his youthfulness was extraordinary. There is a hint of “childishness”, but it is not a childish voice. The tension and excitement of facing “first recording” has become explosive, and the high notes that stretch out are completely uncontrollable…or rather, they have no intention of holding them back. You can enjoy Little Monster’s first steps with the best sound. [Disc 1: APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION (1986 demo)] Jumping ahead five years, the run-up to the phenomenal album “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” has finally begun. Here are 11 early demos. The previously mentioned HOLLYWOOD ROSE was explosive and had no idea what tomorrow would bring, but this one is much more professional. The tempo is calm, and the performance is impressive, with a sense of ease as if they were just “checking it out.” Of course, this is not just a “lazy version of APPETITE,” but there are plenty of highlights to listen to, such as “Anything Goes,” which has different lyrics and verses, the instrumental jam “Ain’t Goin’ Down,” and early versions of “Don’t Cry,” “Back Off Bitch,” and “November Rain,” which were officially recorded on “USE YOUR ILLUSION.” [Disc 1-2: APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION (1986-1987 rehearsal)] The last two tracks on disc 1 and the entire disc 2 are rehearsal tracks from the production of APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION. They were recorded in various studios from 1986 to 1987. Therefore, the quality varies, but overall they are clearer than the demos mentioned above. Unlike the demos that seemed to be recording practice, these are all gems of takes that seem to be live recordings with a lot of momentum and tension. The content is also delicious. Eight of the 12 songs on APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION are performed, making it truly “another APPETITE” and “a studio live version of APPETITE”. Not only that, it also features a lineup of classic songs that they would have played regularly at the time, including three out of four songs from “LIVE ?!*@ LIKE A SUICIDE,” “Don’t Cry” and “Back Off Bitch” from “USE YOUR ILLUSION,” as well as the Stones’ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash (two versions)” and Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel.” Not only does it serve as the foundation for the phenomenal album “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION,” but it also depicts the “essence” of the Guns N’ Roses that produced that masterpiece with supreme quality. [Disc 3: LIVE ?!*@ LIKE A SUICIDE (1986 outtake)] Disk 3 is even more professional! This is an outtake from the legendary EP “LIVE ?!*@ LIKE A SUICIDE.” The masterpiece EP was a pseudo-live album with fake cheers over the studio recordings, but this album includes the four cheer-less versions, as well as the three unreleased songs “Shadow Of Your Love”, “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”. Although it is an indie release, the recordings for release are on a different level, and the performances that passed for the “live album” are intense, even though they are pseudo. This album, which lists the best masters, is definitely the highest…or rather, there is no other studio recording as intense as this in the entire history of GUNS N’ ROSES. These are seven special and pinnacle songs. [Disc 3: USE YOUR ILLUSION (Early 1990 demo)] The last of the album is the 10 early demos (11 tracks) of “USE YOUR ILLUSION”. The exact date and time of recording is still unknown, but the recording sessions began in January 1990, so it is believed to have been around that time. The quality is typical of demos, but the contents are still gems. Even though it was a session for “USE YOUR ILLUSION”, the only songs included on the official version were “Bad Obsession”, “The Garden”, and “Yesterdays”. The rest were a storm of unreleased songs. Moreover, most of them were completed as songs, and it was a pity that they were shelved. In particular, “Crash Diet” is at the level of “whether you can write one song in your life” for an ordinary band. The official version “USE YOUR ILLUSION I & II” was made to be a miscellaneous repertoire, but there were still plenty of unknown masterpieces left… GUNS N’ ROSES is a monster band that will remain in rock history, but their driving force was their endless creativity. This demo track collection will remind you of their monster nature. “LIVE ?!*@ LIKE A SUICIDE”, “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION”, “USE YOUR ILLUSION I & II”… The early GUNS N’ ROSES continued to produce masterpieces that will make you sigh just by listing them. Not only is it the prototype of the original album, but it also shows the inside of the studio where they faced music without worrying about anyone’s eyes. It is a three-disc set filled with a different face from the stage. A three-disc set that reveals the essence of the monster with top quality. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content! “Hollywood Rose” Works / “Hollywood Rose” 1981 Studio Demos / “Appetite For Destruction” Studio Rehearsals / “Live Like A Suicide” Recording Sessions / “Use Your Illusion” Early Working Demos Disc 1 (76:03) “Hollywood Rose” Works 01.
