Description

The latest in the archive of masterpiece music programs by recording enthusiasts. The GRAND FUNK edition, which uses the best professional shots from the 60’s to the 80’s, will be released. This time’s music program is the Japanese program “Golden Western Music Live” that was broadcast in 2009. This is a program featuring professional shot live performances of classic rock performed by a certain broadcasting company, and this work is a recording of the GRAND FUNK edition. At our store, we introduce a number of videos recorded by recording enthusiasts with high-end equipment, but this work is one of the best among them. Since the 2009 digital broadcast was digitally recorded, there is no deterioration. There is no need to even talk about the 4 or 5, it is completely official quality and super high quality. The content of the program, which is depicted in such a high quality, is broadcasted in four major live videos, with commentary from the host. And this host is also amazing. Usually, entertainers who love music give explanations about things that feel strange, but this time the host is a former enka guitarist of MEGADETH. He has always considered himself a fan, and is the person who started music under the influence of GRAND FUNK. Not only can you talk about it from the perspective of both players and listeners, but you can also experience what GRAND FUNK meant to Americans at the time. Unlike just “I like this band,” the enthusiastic but realistic explanation is easy to understand and really “gets across”. However, the main thing that occupies most of this work is the live performance itself. Let’s introduce each of the four videos. [November 1969: American TV program “THE SHOW” (1 song)] First appears in the very early stages. This is the TV program “THE SHOW” in which he appeared in 1969, where he made his shocking debut. At the time, they had just recorded their second album, “Grand Funk,” and performed a cover of Animals’ “Inside Looking Out,” which had not yet been released. Unlike a normal concert, it was a studio live without an audience, but Mark Furner’s singing, which was only 21 years old, was sincere and passionate. There will be plenty of interplay, and they will be playing some of the hardest American rock of our time. Also, it seems that an earthquake occurred in Hokkaido during this broadcast, and an earthquake early warning will also be included. This vividness is also what makes program archives so interesting. [July 9, 1971: New York performance (1 song)] The next one was two years later in 1971. This is a professional shot of the New York performance held about 3 months after the release of “SURVIVAL”. Although it was shot on old-fashioned film, its beauty is exquisite. It’s a beautiful video where you can see Mark’s red pants. Also, the camera work is unique. Of course, it is a multi-camera professional shot, but the facial expressions of the three members and close-ups of the audience are often used. The shots are so close up that you don’t realize it’s a stadium until the music ends and the lights come on. This is partly due to the poor lighting equipment of the early 1970s, but more than that, the basics of rock photography have not been established. The audience dancing wildly, the distorted and barking facial expressions…it’s an interesting video that conveys the sense of the times, trying to convey the “youth culture of rock”. [June 1, 1974: Los Angeles performance (8 songs + α)] The third video is the main feature of this work. This is a multi-camera professional shot from the peak of “SHININ’ ON” about 3 months after its release. As times have progressed to this point, everything has become complete entertainment. The members of GRAND FUNK, who became a four-piece group with the addition of Craig Frost, performed passionately in glittery costumes, and the lighting has also greatly improved. The camera work that depicts this is also wonderful and still relevant today. Also, due to the large number of songs, there are MC scenes between songs, but there are also Japanese subtitles. And above all, the performance is gorgeous. Although there are only 8 songs, which is more than other videos, this one is very rich. The three biggest hits of the time, “Shinin’ On,” “The Loco-Motion,” and “We’re An American Band” are all included, and a number of major songs are luxuriously performed. Members of WET WILLIE also appear as guests on “The Loco-Motion.” Aside from the gorgeous signature song Rush, Don Brewer’s drum solo is most impressive. He takes off the carnival-like costume he wore at the beginning and goes on a rampage, destroying the kit with tremendous effort. You can also witness the headbutt to the snare in the highest quality. [August 1989: WOODSTOCK REUNION performance (3 songs)] At the end, we jumped straight to 1989. This is a professional shot of Mark Furner performing solo at “WOODSTOCK REUNION CONCERT” celebrating the 20th anniversary of the legendary festival. This is the only solo, but all of the songs included are GRAND FUNK numbers. “Bad Time” is sung lightly by Mark wearing a simple T-shirt and denim, “I’m Your Captain (Closer To Home)” is performed by a five-piece ensemble, and “Heartbreaker” is played passionately. A total of 3 songs are being performed. It is a masterpiece program of about 1 and a half hours that describes the history of 20 years since its debut with the finest live professional shots. Not only is this a great piece for a video collection, but it’s also an easy-to-understand piece that vividly conveys its coolness to people who are wondering, “What kind of band is GRAND FUNK?” PBS “The Show”, WITF-TV, Hershey, PA November 1969 Shea Stadium, New York, NY 9th July 1971 The Forum, Los Angeles, CA 1st June 1974 Woodstock Reunion Concert August 1989 Broadcast Date: 7th March 2009 (88:55 ) 1.
