Description
Currently, ANGEL’s miraculous return to Japan for the first time in 43 years is making the rounds, and a new treasured original recording that is perfect for “now” has been discovered. The main character of this work is GIUFFRIA, a melodic hard rock group led by Greg Giuffria. Although Greg is not participating in the current reorganization of ANGEL, this work is a record of his first visit to Japan as GIUFFRIA. This is an audience recording of “June 25, 1985: Nakano Sun Plaza Performance”. Speaking of GIUFFRIA’s first visit to Japan, it is also left as an official video work “JAPAN TOUR ’85”, but this work is a separate show. In order to understand the situation around that, let’s first check the position of the show from the schedule at that time. ・June 25: Nakano Sun Plaza ←★This work★ ・June 26: Nakano Sun Plaza ← *Official video ・June 27: Shibuya Public Hall ・July 1: Osaka Festival Hall A total of 4 performances. The official video “JAPAN TOUR ’85” was also filmed at Nakano Sun Plaza, but this film was filmed the day before. It was a concert on the first day of their first visit to Japan. This work recorded at such a show is an indescribably fresh masterpiece recording. Although it is a type where the audience’s proof is engraved in the tone, the clarity and fine details recorded from the close seat of the 4th row on the 1st floor are exquisite. The heart of the song is full of realism, and the feel of the song pierces through the center of the song. The guitar in particular has vivid picking nuances, and the vocals have clear lyrics. And above all, freshness. This is the original master of this work, which was given directly by the recording artist himself, and of course there are no dubbing marks. Only the tape change section was faded to reduce the choppy feeling, but you can enjoy plenty of fresh sound without any other modifications. What is depicted with such a sound is a full show that is the 100% original version of Melodious Hard’s masterpiece “GIUFFRIA”. There is no need to organize the set, the main focus is the debut work “GIUFFRIA”. Out of the 10 songs, all songs except “Dance” and “The Awakening” will be performed, and each member’s solo time and repertoire such as “Rock Rules” and “Straight To The Top” will be performed. I could enjoy the selection itself in “JAPAN TOUR ’85”, but that official video was an edited work that included interviews and changed the order of the songs. On the other hand, this work is a one-shot live audience recording. The flow of the show is also realistic and you can fully experience the show. And the performance that spells out that set is amazing. David Glenn Isley looked similar to David Lee Roth, but his singing voice was similar to Steve Perry. The melodies he sings with that voice are endlessly beautiful, and Craig Goldie, who would later become a pillar of DIO, used his youth to create a series of tricky phrases. He plays so passionately and dynamically that it makes you wonder, “Perhaps Ronnie was able to suppress him in DIO?” And the main character, Greg. The solo time that brings out a variety of tones is very colorful, and “Fanfare For The Common Man” is also very Keith Emerson. The combination of an album full of melodious masterpieces and an aggressive live performance seems to have anticipated the ideal style that EL&POWELL was aiming for. Although the famous song “Call to the Heart” was a smash hit, the famous band GIUFFRIA disappeared as if washed away by the flow of the times. Although it was a product of its time, its music definitely shined in Japan in 1985. This work is evidence of that sound. If a miracle happened to ANGEL, I want it to happen to GIUFFRIA too. The scene of my first visit to Japan stirs up such feelings. Live at Nakano Sunplaza, Tokyo, Japan 25th June 1985 PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters) (74:00) 01. Introduction 02. Do Me Right 03.
