Description
The “GENESIS” era made further progress with Hugh Padjam. The super best stereo sound board album is now available. This work includes two performances. “November 26th + 27th, 1983 Philadelphia Performance”. This is a soundboard recording that captures a scene from “MAMA TOUR 1983-1984”. Speaking of GENESIS around this time, it was a time when each member’s solo activities were becoming more active. Including the situation, let’s first check the position of the show from the summary of the activities at that time. ●January 22nd – February 20th, 1983: Phil’s solo tour《“THE WICKED LADY” and “THE FUGITIVE” released in April/June》《“GENESIS” released on October 3rd》・November 6th -December 17th: North America #1 (35 performances) ←★Coco★ ●1984, January 6th-February 20th: North America #2 (31 performances), February 25th-29th: UK (5 Performance) ← *Official video《Production of “NO JACKET REQUIRED” started in May》 This is the flow of 1983/1984. Phil Collins’ “THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING TOUR,” which had continued since 1982, ended in February 1983, and immediately after that, Tony Banks’ solo works “THE WICKED LADY” and “THE FUGITIVE” began in quick succession. release. In the fall, the long-awaited “GENESIS” was announced and the “MAMA TOUR” began. This “MAMA TOUR” is extremely limited and only goes to 3 countries: America, Canada, and the UK. Moreover, there were only 5 performances in their home country of England, and the tour was almost entirely in North America. Even with such “MAMA TOUR”, the Philadelphia performance of this work is the beginning. It was the 17th + 18th performance of “North America #1”, and the 2nd and 3rd day of “THE SPECTRUM”‘s 3 consecutive performances. Such a show is broadcast on FM, and is one of the classics that has produced many air checks since ancient times. In the past, people didn’t even know that there were two performances, and this created confusion such as, “It’s the same THE SPECTRUM, but the performances are different!?” This work is the highest peak of such a traditional sound board. It is not an air check but a pre-broadcast master, and it is the ultimate version that does not go through analog or radio waves. In fact, the sound of this work is completely official quality. Although it is pre-FM, it has been processed in the same way as broadcasting, and if the mix and mastering are perfect, the cheers will be polite and there will be no sense of editing. Both performances received the highest ratings on overseas GENESIS specialty sites, and the quality is such that you can enjoy them as official live albums. I’m also happy that it’s long. In fact, a few songs were cut and the order of the songs changed due to editing based on the broadcast time frame, but both performances still exceeded 90 minutes. This tour is also left in the official video “THE MAMA TOUR”, but you can also enjoy plenty of “Dodo/Lurker”, “Los Endos” and “Misunderstanding” that could not be heard there. The world of “MAMA TOUR”, which has been dynamically scaled up, is depicted with the quality of the sound and editing as “quasi-official works”. Although the order of the songs has been changed in both performances, the general flow is the same as the show, and the first half is a concentrated reduction of the two works “ABACAB” and “GENESIS”. Although “ABACAB” was self-produced, Hugh Pajam has already participated as an engineer, and the sound world created by this collaboration is depicted in a concentrated manner. Although it is a familiar pop song, the deep sound is pleasant. The atmosphere changes completely in the second half, which opens with a medley of “In The Cage / Cinema Show / In That Quiet Earth / Slippermen.” A series of famous songs from the Hackett era and “DUKE” are mixed in with the harsh “Drum Duet”. Although it is compact, it still appeals to the spirit of progressive rock that has not been lost. GENESIS in the mid-1980s, when people tended to ask, “How is it different from Phil’s solo?” due to the Hugh Padjam effect. However, even though the album was pop, the progressive body odor remained strong on stage, and the world view was different from Phil’s solo. This is the definitive edition that combines two performances of the official sound board, which is the highest peak of such “MAMA TOUR”.
