Description
This is a two-CD set of high-quality soundboard recordings of Genesis’ three-day performance during Steve Hackett’s tenure at the newly renovated Rainbow Theater in 1977. The live performance took place from January 1st to 3rd, 1977, and the radio broadcast recordings of the first and second days were remastered, and the soundboard recordings of the third day were remastered and coupled. The third day’s live performance had some of the speeches between songs cut and edited, but this editing allowed the songs to be coupled with all the songs uncut. The radio recordings have no speeches between songs, so they are naturally cohesive overall. Furthermore, the radio recordings are recorded in mono and the board recordings in stereo, but the sound pressure has been carefully remastered so that you can enjoy them without any discomfort. Rather than traveling back in time and experiencing the realism of the time, this live album is based on the concept of a preservation version of this historic three-day performance recorded with high-quality soundboard recordings. This live performance was the opening of the newly renovated Rainbow Theater, and also the starting point of Genesis’ “Storm of Silence” tour. This tour gave birth to the famous live album “Dazzling Super Live”, which became the highest achievement of Genesis with Steve Hackett. Then, about 45 years later, in the fall of 2021, Steve Hackett also started a tour with his own band, just like the original Genesis. In particular, Steve Hackett’s tour was titled “Dazzling Super Live”, and this title is a permanent preservation album that contains the origins of those. There is no need to say anything about the content of the live performance. The presence of Genesis at the time when they were entrusted with the opening of the Rainbow Theater can be seen. The dramatic song development, meticulous sound design, and the fierce battle between Phil Collins and Chester Thompson are spectacular, and it is a must-listen for all rock fans.
