Description

We will release the finest stereo soundboard master from the 1974 comeback US tour when Eric Clapton began his solo career in earnest! The performance date is July 24th, and this is a complete recording of the second day performance in Denver, Colorado. Although this sound source had been released in the past, it was a large-volume release format combined with other performances, so some fans were hesitant to obtain it. This time, we have newly obtained the perfect master of this performance, which is said to be a representative sound source from the long-term tour that lasted two months, from a heavyweight taper living in the UK, and have achieved a digital transfer with no deterioration in sound quality. It becomes. The comeback tour in 1974 was famous for relying on alcohol to get through the long stadium tour, and now that the sound source of almost all the performances has seen the light of day, some of the performers were clearly drunk. There are also records of performances that make you think, “Is this Clapton?” However, regarding the Denver performance of this edition, although he must have been drinking, the play quality is very high, and the set list is attractive with a lot of rare and interesting numbers. Among them, it was only on this US tour that he performed Easy Now from his first solo album in the early acoustic number, and it is rare that he only did it a few times. In other performances where this song has been played, there have been days when the intro has been spectacularly missed, but in this performance, it was played perfectly. The development from the middle of the song to the electric set by the entire band is spectacular. Furthermore, it is also noteworthy that he plays Mean Old World, an acoustic jam session with the late Duane Allman during the “Layla Sessions” from the Derek and the Dominos era. This song is even rarer than Easy Now, and was hardly played on this tour. I don’t know if he suddenly played it on a whim or if he had already discussed it with the band with the intention of adding it to the set list that day, but anyway, Clapton at this time thought of a number that he remembered with Duane and dedicated it to him. I’m sure you played with that in mind. Also, the arrangement of Steady Rollin’ Man~ Crossroads is excellent, as it is played as a medley while keeping the rhythm. And above all, what makes this performance wonderful is the high quality of Clapton’s play. Including the afterplay of I Shot The Sheriff, the solo play taken with the representative song is crazy. This tour was conducted with the concept of listening to all of Clapton’s career at this point, including representative songs from the Cream era to the Derek and the Dominos era, plus the “461” number. Among them, the set list of this day can be said to be particularly attractive. The sound quality is the best stereo sound board without any complaints. If you are a fan who missed the sound source of this day, please take this opportunity to re-evaluate Clapton’s comeback tour with this edition. Denver Coliseum, Denver, CO.
