Description
In 1970, during the UK tour, from the European tour that took place from the end of November to the beginning of December, the Zurich performance in Switzerland was completely recorded on December 4th with the best audience recording for 1 hour and 43 minutes. Judging from its sound quality and content, it is definitely the strongest live CD that can be said to be the definitive version of this period. The clarity of the sound is truly wonderful, and it is recorded with an amazing sound quality that is definitely master quality. (This edition is the best version of Promenade’s “Even now in furrows of sorrow” without any sound problems.) “Pictures at an Exhibition”, which is one step away from completion and has an extremely vivid performance, is also different from the later stages. You can experience an attractive performance that cannot be compared. An experimental approach on stage, a constructive fusion of entertainment and serious rock, and elements such as humor and wit that are essential to rock are also scattered in a well-balanced manner, and from this period until around 1971, ELP was a band. It can be said that this is a piece that clearly shows that it was the best time for this. In the middle, there’s an 18-minute Take A Pebble that includes Tarkas’ Eruption and Tank, the Knife Edge of this period that has a strong impact on the listener, the powerful Rondo in the second half, a drum solo, and a dramatic introduction of harpsichord into rock. Nut Rocker, and at the end, Preacher Man, a rock’n’roll number only available at this time, explodes. This is the strongest album that can be declared the best live album of ELP in 1970.
