Description
The miraculous soundboard album that was highly praised as “DOKKEN’s masterpiece” and “True BEAST FROM THE EAST” has been improved. It has been decided to be permanently preserved with a quality that updates the highest ever. What is engraved in its masterpiece is the finest stereo soundboard recording of the “April 21, 1988: Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium” performance. Yes, this is an upgrade version of the famous album “ASSAULT THE SENSES”! I’m sorry that the meter suddenly went up and kept saying “legendary” or “upgrade”. For those who don’t know about “ASSAULT THE SENSES,” let’s start from the beginning. Speaking of the 1988 performance in Japan, it is also famous for its official live album “BEAST FROM THE EAST”, but this work is a completely different long stereo soundboard recording. Let’s look back at the schedule at that time to get an idea of the circumstances around that.・April 20th: NHK Hall ・April 21st: Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium ←★This work★ ・April 23rd: Shibuya Public Hall ・April 24th: Nagoya City Public Hall ・April 25th: Osaka Welfare Pension Center April 27th: Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall ←*Official April 29th: NHK Hall ←*Official April 30th: Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall ←*Official A total of 8 performances. The official “BEAST FROM THE EAST” has been compiled from the last three performances in Tokyo, but this work was released about a week before that. It was the second performance of the Japan tour that had just begun. It has been known for a long time that the sound board sound source was left behind, but it updates the top of this work. When it was first excavated, it was a single piece with many cuts, but in later years a long master of approximately 100 minutes was leaked by a person involved. That is “ASSAULT THE SENSES” that I introduced at the beginning, and it is still the highest peak master that cannot be surpassed. And, this work is the definitive edition that has been refined with the latest and meticulous mastering. “The only person who could surpass the Vertex Master was the Vertex himself.” In fact, the sound quality is so impressive that you can’t believe your ears. From the original sound, it was a super powerful sound board with a very thick core connected directly to the mix table, but this work even has a neater sense of balance. We pursue beauty by paying attention to the extension of the sound while maintaining the strength and sharpness of the edges. By specializing in the midrange, the balance of the thick original sound has been adjusted, achieving a wide range and good clarity. The outline of each note, which was originally strongly separated, has become even more vivid, and the ensemble has also become more three-dimensional. It brought out the possibilities of the legendary sound to the limit. What is depicted with that sound is a full show that exceeds “BEAST FROM THE EAST”, where the band’s potential reaches its peak and explodes. In fact, only the last encore song “In My Dreams” does not have a sound board, and is supplemented with an audience recording from the same day, but even apart from that, the number of songs is higher than “BEAST FROM THE EAST” in volume. That’s it. Let’s compare and organize them here. Tooth And Nail (7 songs) / Heartless Heart (★) / Tooth And Nail / When Heaven Comes Down / Alone Again / Into The Fire (◆) / Turn On The Action / Just Got Lucky (◆) Back For The Attack (7 songs)・Kiss Of Death/Sleepless Night/Standing In The Shadows/Dream Warriors/Mr. Scary/Heaven Sent/Lost Behind A Wall (★) Others (4 songs)・Breaking the Chains: Breaking The Chains ・Under Rock and Key: Unchain The Night/It’s Not Love/In My Dreams (◆: AUD only for this song) *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “BEAST FROM THE EAST”. Songs marked with “◆” are not included in the previous single-disc release. …and it looks like this. The rare “Heartless Heart” and “Lost Behind A Wall” that cannot be heard even in “BEAST FROM THE EAST” are delicious, but the momentum of the one-shot recording, which is different from the edited official work, is amazing. Yes, this momentum and aggression was the lifeblood of this work… no, it was DOKKEN’s life at the time. “BEAST FROM THE EAST” is often referred to as “the best selection of Golden Age DOKKEN”, but in reality it is biased towards “TOOTH AND NAIL” and “BACK FOR THE ATTACK”, which is clearly on the hard side. (Perhaps as a reaction to this, “UNDER LOCK AND KEY” was featured in DON DOKKEN in 1991). The tension of the performance itself is appropriate for such a set. George Lynch’s razor guitar is so powerful! If the edges are sharp, each picking will be super sharp. Even though it’s not really running, it’s so aggressive that even mid-tempo sounds like it’s running. It’s so sharp that even a bunch of thrash bands can’t compete with it, but because it’s a directly connected soundboard, that sharpness is etched into your brain. Not only is the guitar itself intense and unparalleled, but the sound that hits its full potential is also an unprecedented and transcendent record. The smooth vocalization of Don Dokken in his prime, Jeff Pilson’s bass line full of singing spirit, the beauty of the three-part chorus, etc…Originally, there are a lot of points to talk about, but as expected. I can’t say enough about it. In any case, please experience the ultimate guitar sound and a full show that surpasses the official version of “BEAST FROM THE EAST”. DOKKEN’s masterpiece that puts even the prestigious official edition out of the question. The highest peak sound update edition.
