Description
Demolition 23., a phantom punk band that shone so brightly that it disappeared in an instant. This super-exquisite stereo soundboard album is here. Jerusalem Slim collapsed due to Steve Stevens’ betrayal, and the remaining Michael Monroe and Sami Yaffa formed this ephemeral band. However, their music was so intense. They faced their roots in punk head-on and ran with a sense of desperation. It was not the afterglow of HANOI ROCKS, nor a continuation of Jerusalem Slim. It was simply a project swirling with pure passion and energy. They began performing live as soon as they released their album “Demolition 23.” in June 1994. They even came to Japan. This work contains the secret gig of Demolition 23.’s first live show in Japan, “August 24, 1994 at Warhol (Osaka)”. It is a miracle live album that depicts it with a super-fine sound board leaked by the people involved. One thing to be careful of here is the circumstances of the visit to Japan at that time. In order to understand the position of the show, let’s check the schedule at that time. “DEMOLITION 23.” released on June 25th “July: Nasty Suicide participation” “August: Promo visit to Japan” August 24th: Osaka Warhol [this work] August 26th: Club Citta Kawasaki *DVD October: Japan Tour October 6th: Tokyo Simple Insurance Hall October 7th: Nagoya Club Quattro October 9th: Fukuoka Tsukushi Kaikan October 10th: Osaka Festival Hall October 11th + 12th: Nakano Sun Plaza This is a brief history at that time. After the release of the album, DEMOLITION 23. performed several times in New York, but when it came to Europe… a problem occurred. Jay Henning, who played guitar on the album, was banned from leaving the United States. Michael, who was thinking of doing something global, gave up on Jay and asked his old friend Nasty for help. After that, DEMOLITION 23. went to Japan. They came to Japan twice in a row, with a promo tour in August and a formal Japan tour in October. The Osaka gig in this work was held during the promo visit to Japan in August. It was a special show that only fans selected by lottery could participate in. The quality of this work is an exquisite superb sound board. The master recorded by the people involved at the time was directly made into a CD, and since it is an unprocessed leaked product, the mix is rough and the cheers are only faint, but the rawness is of an extraordinary dimension. Wild & non-stop punk rock is twisted into your ears, and DEMOLITION 23. rises into your brain. It is an ultra-realistic album that is of official quality without question, but can never be an official product. The sound suits DEMOLITION 23. very well. They rush through the wildest of bands, and their beats and shouts are the epitome of passion. The pleasure of synchronizing with such a band on a brain level is amazing. If the performance is pure, the set is also thorough. All songs from the album “DEMOLITION 23.” except “Deadtime Stories” were performed, and many delicious covers were also included. To name a few, MC5’s “Kick Out the Jams,” DEAD BOYS’ “3rd Generation Nation” and “What Love Is,” Iggy Pop’s “I Feel Alright” and “I Got Right,” and THE DAMNED’s “Love Song.” Since they also included many punk covers on their studio albums, this album is not only a “live version of the album” but also an “extended version.” And the best of all was HANOI ROCKS’ “High School” and “Problem Child/It’s Too Late”! Although they are by no means HANOI, the venue erupted in excitement when Michael, Sami, and Nasty performed the HANOI ROCKS numbers together! Although the cheers can only be heard from a distance because the table is directly connected, the heat erupting from the crowd is still felt. Above all, the band’s overheating at the sight of the frenzy proves the scorching heat of the scene. This is the moment when THE OFFSPRING and GREEN DAY were about to explode. In the Far East of that time, DEMOLITION 23. was pounding out fierce punk rock in rapid succession without even a proper MC. This is a superb soundboard album that lets you get up close and personal with that hot live performance. Its quality and value are on par with the official work “DEMOLITION 23.”… no, it’s the ultimate album that goes beyond that. If they had continued a little longer, maybe they would have changed history… DEMOLITION 23.’s genuine punk is enough to drive you to delusions like that.
