Description
DEEP PURPLE of the “Storm Messenger” era, which created the groundbreaking twin vocal system hard rock and further deepened it. A new recording that allows you to experience the scene 100% live is now available. This work was recorded at the “Milwaukee performance on December 11, 1974”. This is a newly excavated audience recording. The III period of DEEP PURPLE, which had geniuses on guitar, keyboard, and drums, and two super-unique vocalists on top of them. Although it was a lump of talent, it burned out after about a year and a half of activity, which was too short. First of all, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the whole picture and check the position of this work. 1973 (September: Phase III begins → November: “Purple Flame” completed) December 9th-17th: Europe #1 (5 shows) 1974 January 20th-26th: Europe #2 (5 shows) (February 15th: “Purple Flame” released) March 3rd-April 9th: North America #1 (28 shows) ←※CALIFORNIA JAM April 18th-June 27th: UK (25 shows) ←※LIVE IN LONDON August 24th-30th: North America #2 (4 shows) (September: “Messenger of the Storm” completed) September 18th-28th: Europe #3 (9 shows) (November 8th: “Messenger of the Storm” released) November 13th-December 17th: North America #3 (19 shows) ←★Here★ January 25, 1975: Melbourne performance {March 14, “Silver Mountain Champion” completed} March 16-April 7: Europe #4 (12 performances) ← *MADE IN EUROPE and others {Ritchie Blackmore leaves the band} This is the outline of the activities of DEEP PURPLE in the third period. The iconic live works are “CALIFORNIA JAM”, “LIVE IN LONDON” and “MADE IN EUROPE”, but this Milwaukee performance is a transitional period away from all of them. It was the 14th concert of “North America #3”, about one month after the release of “Storm Messenger”. Speaking of “North America #3”, the masterpiece “LONG BEACH ARENA 1974” is loved as a standard, but this work was nine performances later (three weeks later). This “North America #3” is a period when there are extremely few recordings, but in fact, the recording of this show has been known to the love of core collectors for a long time. However, this work is a new excavation that is different from that. It is not a different dubbing system or a different generation, but a completely different recording. It was recently released by the famous collector “luciferburns”, and it is a new master that was digitized directly from analog cassette. The sound is fresh and vivid. It is a vintage audience that prioritizes rarity, but its reality is exceptional. The conventional recording has a very thick sound, but instead the new recording has a great lack of audience noise. Of course, there are applause between songs, but it is mainly applause and there are almost no strange voices or screams. When the performance begins, the performance of the five people tramples everything, making you forget the existence of the audience. Such a newly excavated sound depicts a full show that condenses the taste of the III period. During this period, the quality of the songs was also outstanding, and there are plenty of famous songs. In particular, the first half of the album, which includes “The Gypsy” and “Lady Double Dealer,” which are not played after that, is particularly satisfying. And the fact that the second half is well recorded is a high point. The aforementioned “North America #3” masterpiece “LONG BEACH ARENA 1974” had good sound, but the recording ended with “You Fool No One” in the middle of the show. In that respect, this work was recorded after “You Fool No One,” and you can enjoy it until the end of the last “Highway Star.” Moreover, the performance itself is also great. Richie was still motivated, and his sharpness is good, and he seems to be in a good mood as he constantly plays various phrases. The solo in “Mistreated” is also great, and the avalanche into “Smoke On The Water” after “Lazy” is reminiscent of “Man on the Silver Mountain” in RAINBOW. It is DEEP PURPLE, but at the same time, you can fully enjoy the taste of the “STORMBRINGER Tour”, which was also the eve of RAINBOW. Not only were all the members talented, but even the ensemble structure of the III period DEEP PURPLE was super unique. This is a precious newly excavated live album that conveys the scene. The real sound that has jumped over 50 years of time and space. A newly excavated audience recording of the “Milwaukee performance on December 11, 1974”. It was only recently released by the famous collector “luciferburns”, and it is a completely different recording from the conventional master. The freshness of the direct digitization from analog cassette is exceptional, and the performance of the five people is trampled on everything with little audience noise. This is a new masterpiece that allows you to enjoy the second half of the show, which was not recorded in the same leg’s masterpiece “LONG BEACH ARENA 1974”.
