Description

DEEP PURPLE welcomed Don Airey and arrived at their current formation. Introducing a treasured soundboard album that conveys their first live performance from the “BANANAS” era. This work was recorded at “Rockford Performance on July 2, 2005”. This is the best stereo sound board recording. Speaking of 2005, it was also the year that “RAPTURE OF THE DEEP” was released, and “BANANA WORLD TOUR” was also at its final stage. Moreover, this day was also an important day worldwide. In order to explain that aspect, let’s first check the show’s position from the schedule at that time.・March 3rd: Performance at CAPRICES FESTIVAL ・May 20th-22nd: Northern Europe (3 performances) [RAPTURE OF THE DEEP completed in June] ・June 11th-July 2nd: North America (16 performances) ←★Coco★ ・July 15th-31st: Europe #1 (11 performances) ・August 13th + 14th: Summer Sonic (2 performances) ・September 2nd + 3rd / October 10th: Europe #2 (3 performances)《“RAPTURE OF THE DEEP” released on October 24th》 ・October 24th – November 4th: Latin America (8 performances) This is DEEP PURPLE in 2005. They completed “RAPTURE OF THE DEEP” in June and went on a summer festival tour. The Rockford performance of this work was a concert on the final day of the “North American” leg. And for those of you who thought “Huh!?” at this “July 2, 2005”, you are sharp. Yes, this day was also the day that the world’s biggest event “LIVE 8” was held. DEEP PURPLE was also appearing in Toronto, but this work was the second stage on the same day. It was a show at Davis Park, which is about 10 hours by car from Barry Park Palace, the site of “LIVE 8”. The 2nd stage was held on a forced schedule like the 70s, but this work that captures that pattern is truly the best soundboard. I’m not sure what the circumstances were, but it was recorded directly from the mix console, not from an FM broadcast. It is also the finest product with zero deterioration and is directly imported into the computer without passing through a cassette or DAT. In fact, the quality of this work is proof of that history. If the core of each note is extremely thick, the outline and details will be extremely clear. There is no cheer at all to call it “completely official grade”, and the mix for the on-site PA is clearly too raw, but the sound quality itself can be confidently asserted. Rather, its vivid synchronicity is so exquisite that it even blows away many official live albums. The show drawn with that quality is also wonderful. I think the official work “LIVE AT MONTREUX 2006” is the standard after Don Airey joined, so let’s compare and organize. First half – Fireball: Strange Kind Of Woman / Demon’s Eye (★) – Purple Portrait: Woman From Tokyo (★) – Perfect Strangers – Bananas: Silver Tongue (★) / I Got Your Number / Contact Lost ( ★) Second half Machine Head: Highway Star/Space Truckin’/Smoke On The Water (with Leslie West)/Lazy Other: Hush *Note: “★” marks cannot be heard on the official work “LIVE AT MONTREUX 2006” song. …and it looks like this. The “BANANAS” number and “Demon’s Eye” that cannot be heard in “LIVE AT MONTREUX 2006” are delicious, but the flow of the entire show is actually interesting. While the aforementioned bitter classics and new songs are played in the first half, the second half is full of “MACHINE HEAD”! With “Highway Star” as an opportunity, they will perform four songs, which make up more than half of the album. Of course, it is not uncommon or anything for it to be played only on the four classic songs, but this solid method of pushing is unusual. At that time, it wasn’t an anniversary year like the ○th anniversary, but… Moreover, former MOUNTAIN member Leslie West appears as a guest on “Smoke On The Water.” You can also enjoy valuable co-stars.
