Description

A precious live album from the “Storm Messenger” era is here. This era is also famous for the official albums “MADE IN EUROPE” and “MK III: THE FINAL CONCERTS”, but this work is a little earlier than that. This is an audience album from the “Long Beach performance on November 20, 1974”. First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the short “STORMBRINGER TOUR 1974-1975” from the overview of the whole tour. “Storm Messenger” released in November 1974″ November-December 1974: North America (19 performances) ←★Here★ January 25, 1975: Australia (1 performance) “February-March 1975: Silver Mountain Champion Production” March-April 1975: Europe (12 performances) “Ritchie Blackmore leaves the band” A total of 32 performances. When you say “STORMBRINGER TOUR 1974-1975”, you might imagine a huge world tour that lasted two years, but in reality there were only a few shows. The Long Beach performance in this work was the fifth performance. It was a concert four days after the release of “Storm Messenger”. This work, which records such a show, does not include an encore, and it is an incomplete version with cuts such as the second half of “Burn” that seem to have been made with concern about the remaining tape. However, that alone makes it an unusually valuable recording. In fact, “STORMBRINGER TOUR: 1974 Edition” has been a “darkness of history” for a long time. After all, since it was such a short tour, there are few records, and even if they do come out, most of them are recordings from Ritchie Blackmore’s final period in 1975. Speaking of the 1974 “STORMBRINGER TOUR”, there was only the Milwaukee performance. This work is a live album that clears up such darkness of history. Not only is this work valuable, but it is also a vintage audience with excellent quality. Of course, it is not the type that can be called “like a sound board”, but the sound is clear with a strong musical tone that is stunningly strong for the 1970s, and there is no noise or distortion. Moreover, the master freshness is also excellent, and there is almost no deterioration due to dubbing or aging. The clarity can be realized from the vivid separation of each instrument. Even when the four instrumentalists + two vocalists explode with a total performance, they can be heard beautifully separated, and Glenn Hughes’ rough feeling is clear to one grain. There is no way to know the recording environment, but there is almost no audience noise. Even when Richie plucks it pianissimo, it can be heard clearly up to the subtleties … such a delicate recording. The “STORMBRINGER TOUR: 1974 Edition” depicted with that sound is also wonderful. About half a year after that legendary California jam, DEEP PURPLE has returned to the United States again with plenty of momentum and confidence. Although Richie had some complaints, once he got on stage, it was full of the brilliance of the period of great success where anything went well. The new songs “Stormbringer”, “The Gypsy” and “Lady Double Dealer” are even more catchy. This is the earliest live performance that remains to this day, and perhaps because of that, the performance is careful and passionate. It is a little different from the explosiveness of the second period, but you can enjoy plenty of fresh performances. Here is Ritchie Blackmore before experiencing the session with Ronnie James Dio. This is a valuable live album that conveys the last period of the era when he was nothing but “DEEP PURPLE’s guitarist” without knowing that his fate would change. Live at Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, CA. USA 20th November 1974 (58:51) 1. Intro 2. Burn 3. Stormbringer 4. The Gypsy 5. Lady Double Dealer 6. Mistreated 7. Smoke On The Water 8. You Fool No One
