Description

DEEP PUROPLE during the Joe Lynn Turner era has been neglected by the official side. The legendary soundboard that has served as the “official substitute” has been brushed up. The highest quality 2CD in history, meticulously mastered by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”, is now available. This work is engraved with a stereo soundboard recording of the “August 20th + 21st, 1991 performance in Sao Paulo”. This is an upgraded version of the masterpiece soundboard album “SLAVES AND MASTER TAPES” born from the first South American tour. [SBD collection of the Joe Lynn era that has been ignored] Speaking of DEEP PURPLE, they are a band with a very active official archive, but the Joe Lynn era is an exception among exceptions. Perhaps out of deference to the current band led by Ian Gillan, no official live works have been released at all. When that happens, it is the underground soundboard sound that attracts attention. Many people may have fallen into collecting hell while searching for the “official substitute of the Joe Lynn era”. Of course, our store also has such professional records in its lineup. Let’s organize the collection by tour dates here. ・February 4th – March 17th: Europe #1 (30 performances) ←※ Pro Shot Trilogy ・April 10th – May 15th: North America (9 performances) ←※ DEFINITIVE PHILADELPHIA 1991 ・June 24th – July 3rd: Asia (6 performances) ・August 16th – 24th: South America (7 performances) ←★ Here ★ ・September 14th – 26th: Europe #2 (5 performances) ・September 28th + 29th: Israel (2 performances) ←※ ISRAEL FIRE This is the “SLAVES AND MASTERS Tour” of the bubble. Three famous pro shots remain from “Europe #1”, and our shop has two works, “WICKED NIGHT” and “MASTER OF HUNGARY”. All other long sound boards have been made into CDs and are permanently preserved in “DEFINITIVE PHILADELPHIA 1991”, “ISRAEL FIRE”, and this work. As mentioned above, this was DEEP PURPLE’s first time in South America, but all of them were in Brazil. Four performances were held in Sao Paulo, and the sound boards were excavated at the third performance (the first half) and the fourth performance (almost the entire performance). [Updated the highest peak with detailed mastering] Of course, this work is a decisive board that records both of them in the longest and highest quality. It is a two-disc set that mainly includes the fourth performance (8/21), which can be heard as a full live album, and the third performance (8/20) as a bonus. Both use the same master as “SLAVES AND MASTER TAPES”, but this itself is the highest peak that has not been surpassed until now. The main “8/21” sounds better than the long-known master, and the bonus “8/20” was first released in “SLAVES AND MASTER TAPES”. This work further polishes the master of “SLAVES AND MASTER TAPES”. However, it is not a blind sound pressure. If you have read this article, you will know that “GRAF ZEPPELIN”‘s method is faithful to the basics, but its precision is superhuman. Pitch / phase is corrected without 1/1000th of a second of deviation, and various noise processing such as needle jump, hiss, scratch, hum is also precise. Moreover, “overdoing” is avoided to the extreme, and the last minute processing that does not affect the performance sound is pursued. The finish that places the greatest value on “on-site sound reproduction” is permeated with aesthetics that lead to the restoration of paintings. And the design also revived “SLAVES AND MASTER TAPES” beautifully. The big thing this time was the balance adjustment by band analysis. This work is a mix table diameter type outflow sound board, so the mix was rough and the bass was spoiled. Therefore, the bass was also strengthened in this work. Of course, the bass is not just raised appropriately, but the sound output balance of a normal live performance is reproduced while taking care not to impair the sense of separation unique to the sound board. [Ritchie Blackmore burns in South America for the first time] Such an upgraded sound depicts a live album that was said to be the “official replacement for the Joelin era.” Here, let’s organize the contents of the set. 70’s classics: Burn (★) / Black Night (incl. Long Live Rock ‘N’ Roll: ★) / Child In Time (★) / Lazy / Highway Star / Smoke On The Water / Woman From Tokyo After the reunion: Perfect Strangers: Perfect Strangers / Knocking At Your Back Door / Slaves & Masters: Truth Hurts (★) / The Cut Runs Deep (incl. Hush: ★) / Fire In The Basement / Love Conquers All / Others: Hey Joe / Difficult To Cure / Blues *Note: Songs marked with “★” are also included in the third performance (8/20). …And so it goes. The set is the same on both days, but only the first half of the show on “8/20”. Two takes of each song marked with “★” are included. The main “8/21” is not strictly full because there are cuts in the middle of “Hush” and the call and response part of “Smoke On The Water” (tape change?), but all the songs are recorded without omission. The opening “Burn” is particularly delicious. Since Gillan never sings, it is a masterpiece unique to the Joe Lin era, but the beginning is missing in “DEFINITIVE PHILADELPHIA 1991” and it was not recorded in its entirety in “ISRAEL FIRE”. However, in the main “8/21” of this work, you can hear the riff from the first shot on the sound board (although it is fade-in so it is just barely). Furthermore, the performance itself is wonderful. Richie is burning with enthusiasm, perhaps because he was excited about his first time in South America, and he has much more momentum than Japan or Europe. Of course, when Richie burns, the heat spreads to the entire band. John Lord’s improvisation phrases overflow without stagnation, and Joe’s throat is in good condition and is in the groove. This work is a soundboard album that will pour such a pleasant performance into your brain with a detailed and subtle performance. In terms of the polished mix balance, the most likely “official substitute” is “DEFINITIVE PHILADELPHIA 1991”, but this work is superior in the real pleasure of enjoying a (almost) full show from “Burn”. This is a two-disc set that updates the highest peak of such a masterpiece soundboard. If the official side has no intention of leaving the Joelin era, the underground has no choice but to preserve it forever. This is a two-CD set engraved with that mission. REMASTERED BY GRAF ZEPPELIN★Phase correction★Balance adjustment with EQ. Mainly corrects the lack of low frequencies. Stereo soundboard recording of “August 20 + 21, 1991 Sao Paulo performance”. This is a two-disc set that mainly includes “August 21 (all songs)” and “August 20 (only the first half)” as a bonus, and both days are the longest existing editions. The mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” is extremely precise, and the thin bass has been powerfully restored by balancing adjustments based on frequency band analysis. This is the definitive album that serves as the “official substitute” for the Joe Lynn Turner era, which has been ignored by the official side.
