Description
In the history of Japanese Western music… No, the first visit of DEEP PURPLE, who shines brilliantly in the history of rock in the world. The new generation master who carries the atmosphere of the scene is an unexpected excavation beyond 45 years. This work contains the performance of “August 17, 1972: Nippon Budokan”. The only Tokyo performance and the final day of the legendary first visit to Japan for three days. This concert was also the scene of “The Mule” and “Lazy” recorded in “LIVE IN JAPAN”. Two types of audience recordings are known on this day, one of which has been introduced as discs 5-6 of “LIVE IN JAPAN COMPLETE (Darker Than Blue 044-049)” and the other as “LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE”. The one excavated this time is the same recording as “LIVE IN JAPAN COMPLETE”, but it is a much younger generation master. In fact, this work is longer than “LIVE IN JAPAN COMPLETE”. First of all, the entrance part of “Strange Kind Of Woman”, which had been separated by fade processing in the previous release, is seamlessly connected, and the part that was faded after the legendary MC “I continued to play this evening’s concert with a regretful look, and I think they will do one more song. DEEP PURPLE!” in “Black Night” is also recorded with the original “beep” sound vividly. In fact, it is clear that the tape was paused many times to save (this part was left as it is because it is a recording document, but the recording leak of about 32 seconds in the middle of “Lazy” is related to the performance sound, so it was complemented by the “LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE” master). Furthermore, if the cheers after the end of “Space Truckin'” are about 3 seconds longer, the opening scene / closing scene will also be about 1 second longer. Normally, I would write that “a difference of a few seconds is just evidence of a different master,” but the scene of this work is the legendary Nippon Budokan. Even if it is only for a few seconds, the “miracle scene” is a hidden treasure, and it is a great pleasure to be able to inhale that history with the scent of the original. However, it was still “just evidence”. In fact, what is even more shocking is the sound that runs through the entire work. The freshness of the sound of the younger Gene is very fresh, and the details are remarkably vivid. The bass is particularly wonderful. The distortion occurs just like in the familiar “LIVE IN JAPAN COMPLETE”, but in the previous release, the distortion and the mid-high range are depressed, and the overall sound is strangely light, and only the distortion pops out. Of course, I thought “that kind of recording” for many years, but in this work, the bass performance sound itself is full of response. Not only the peak distortion, but even the rich bass body is clearly recorded. Of course, it’s not just the bass. The details of the mid-high range are also remarkably detailed, and the lines of the guitar and keyboard that run wild on the thick bass are also vivid. Such a difference cannot be produced by just remastering. No matter how advanced modern digital technology is, once a sound is lost during dubbing, it cannot be revived. This work is filled with sounds that could have been preserved precisely because it is a young generation. Until now, the pinnacle of the legendary Nippon Budokan was “LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE”, but this master is at the same level as the great masterpiece. The two recordings have been elevated to a level where they compete for the top. The performance itself can be enjoyed in the official complete version, but because it is a miraculous masterpiece, I want to be there at the scene. I want to get closer, even by one step or half a step. This is a new generation master that responds to that desire. The vividness and breathing of the audience, completely different from the sound board. The rebirth of the famous recording that has told the legend of Nippon Budokan to this day. A sound worthy of the name “DEFINITIVE” that transcends 45 years of time and space. Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 17th August 1972 UPGRADE (from Original Masters) Disc 1 (52:03) 1. Intro. 2. Highway Star 3. Smoke On The Water 4. Child In Time 5. The Mule 6. Strange Kind Of Woman Disc 2 (51:55) 1. Lazy 2. Space Truckin’ 3. Black Night 4. Speed King ★Although it is the same recording source as “LIVE IN JAPAN COMPLETE” (DTB 048/049 – Disc 5/6), the tape generator is clearly younger and the sound quality is better. This is the definitive title of the audience recording of their first visit to Japan and their performance at the Budokan. ★Many parts are longer than those previously released. (The intros and outros are both long.)
