Description

The 1978 Japan tour brought the world of “Berlin-era Bowie” to Japan. This world-wide unreleased recording is a miraculous discovery. This work was recorded on “December 11, 1978,” the first time Bowie stepped on the Nippon Budokan stage. It is an audience album that has been converted directly to CD from the original cassette given by the recording artist himself. Speaking of the 1978 Japan tour, the video by a certain public broadcasting station is too famous, but it is a different live show. Let’s organize the tour schedule once. ・December 5th: Nagoya City Public Hall ・December 6th: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall ・December 7th: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall ・December 9th: Osaka Expo Memorial Hall ・December 11th: Nippon Budokan [This work] ]・December 12: NHK Hall *Television broadcast “TOKYO 1978″ As you can see, the TV broadcast was held at NHK Hall on the last day. You can see the pattern in “TOKYO 1978” released this week, but this work is a live album just before that. This tour was delayed due to the NHK Hall TV broadcast, but this has improved in recent years. There are some previous releases on this day, such as “BEAUTY”, but this work is different from any of them. Of course, it is an original master that is completely new to the market and has not been distributed on the internet or in trade. The recorder is a person who was known as Japan’s most famous recording artist from the late 70’s to the 80’s. Our store has handled countless titles such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, THE ROLLING STONES, etc., and I’m sure there are many customers who are intrigued by them. This work is also a masterpiece that shows the skill of such a famous taper. The sound is really clear, and it is so beautiful that it is hard to believe that it was a Budokan in the 1970s. To be honest, it even surpasses the popular work “BEAUTY”, which received rave reviews for “clearer than trade sound sources” and “ultra-high sound quality.” Although it is not so direct that it can be called “just like a sound board,” the outline of the musical tone is sharp and there is no blur or blur. Even when the voice of “Kyaa” rises, it is captured as if it is whispering in the distance, and it does not block the musical sound at all. From the on-site PA to the speakers at home, the sound is as if the singing voice and performance transcend time and space and come straight at you like a laser beam. The recording technology of the famous taper that can be recorded with this quality is also considerable, but the existence of the original cassette that has continued to preserve it until the present day is significant. The freshness is so vivid because he continued to sleep while breathing in the air from the scene, and finally exhaled it after 38 years. This is no longer “this day” but the number 1 recording of “1978 tour”. The vividness of “Berlin-era Bowie” revived by that sound is the biggest charm of this work. The TV footage from NHK Hall is a historical masterpiece, but due to broadcasting restrictions, it was far from the scale of the entire show. On the other hand, this work is a complete recording of the show. There was a recording omission of about 1 minute at the end of “Beauty And The Beast” (the musical part was about 30 seconds), but that was compensated for by the already released record. The sound source changes around the 4th minute of the track, but the connection is so natural that you won’t even know it’s here, even if someone says, “Here it is!”, making the show seamless and enjoyable. And the full show of the “Berlin era” depicted with that sound is truly exquisite. As the tour title “LOW AND HEROES TOUR 1978” suggests, the first half (disc 1) features the masterpieces “LOW” and “HEROES” in succession, and the catchy melody spreads beautifully while absorbing the cutting-edge sensibilities of krautrock. Then, the contrast in the second half, which takes a turn and gets excited with six consecutive hits of “Ziggy Stardust”, is also wonderful. Even in the official masterpiece “STAGE”, each world was clearly divided, but the flow of 100% real life is even more natural. The later expanded version “STAGE” changed to the same flow as this work, but you can also listen to “Jean Gene”, “Suffragette City” and “Rebel Rebel” that continue to be deleted there. The “Berlin era” stands out in Bowie’s career. Generally speaking, it is called a trilogy including “LODGER”, but strictly speaking, only “LOW” and “HEROES” were produced in Berlin. Moreover, they did not tour after “LODGER,” and their next world tour was after “LET’S DANCE,” which had a completely different worldview. In other words, it must be “LOW AND HEROES TOUR 1978” that summed up the “Berlin era” with live music, and the culmination was the final leg in Japan. The highest peak recording of such a Japan tour, that is the true nature of this work. This work must be a memorable stage for Japanese fans, but it is also one that shines specially in Bowie history. In 2016, when Bowie left, his footsteps are attracting more attention than ever before, so we would like to introduce this one-of-a-kind live album. I want as many people as possible to know about this eye-catching brilliance. A major historical excavation with this determination in mind. This is the birth of a masterpiece that will remain forever as long as the name “DAVID BOWIE” remains and as long as the “Berlin era” is remembered as special. We invite you to be a witness to this historic moment. Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 11th December 1978 TRULY PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters) Disc 1 (47:52) 01. Warsawa 02. Heroes 03.
