Description
The 2CD “SHEPHERD’S BUSH EMPIRE 1997 2ND NIGHT” was a masterpiece live album that shines in a special way even in the British master collection. However, that is not the only masterpiece that captures “1997 Bowie.” This work is an audience album that can be called “another masterpiece”. This work was recorded “August 11, 1997 London performance” the day before the 2CD. Same traditional venue “Shepherd’s Bush Empire”. There were 13 UK performances of “EARTHLING TOUR 1997” (including warm-up gigs), but Shepherd’s Bush Empire was the last and highlight two-day performance. Master Taper was recording on both days. The 2CD had a shocking sound that could shake the master’s brand, but this work is the “usual sound” where the master’s individuality is on full display. The sound emphasizes the enthusiasm and atmosphere of the venue, and the elegant acoustics of a traditional venue are also a beautiful masterpiece. Although the clarity is close to that of 2CD, the atmosphere at the scene is warm. Even though the reverberations of the venue slightly envelope the musical tones, the reverberations are crystal clear and do not blur the edges of the musical tones. The audience’s loud applause is gentle like May rain, and it seems as if it is falling on Bowie. The “1997 Bowie” depicted with that sound shows off a completely different expression on the 2CD. Of course, the digital route that boldly incorporates drum and bass/jungle is the same, and Bowie himself, who is one day apart, is not significantly different. However, compared to “SHEPHERD’S BUSH EMPIRE 1997 2ND NIGHT” which approaches with a direct feeling and force that surpasses even the sound board, the sense of space of this work is more vivid than the dynamism and spectacle that dominates the scene. Writing like this may give you the impression that it sounds far away, but that’s not the case. You might think it’s a huge arena considering it’s Bowie’s hometown of London, but the prestigious “Shepherd’s Bush Empire” is by no means a large venue with a hall capacity of about 2,000 people. Even though there is plenty of the feeling of filling the venue, it is by no means a “musical sound from far away.” And the people gathered in that space are fans from my hometown of London. “1997 Bowie Sound” dances in a very intimate mood. Originally, I should have written this as a feature of “V2 Schneider”, which cannot be heard on 2CD, but the difference in sound itself is interesting. The same recording artist, the same equipment, the same venue, and both are clear masterpiece recordings (although the taste is different). Despite this, it’s hard to believe that the taste of music can vary so much depending on the nuances of the sound. This is also the fun and real thrill of audience recording. In contrast to the powerful and overwhelming 2CD, this work has dynamism that excites the space. Please enjoy this masterpiece, which is no less than a masterpiece.
