Description

From 17-year-old Davy Jones to David Bowie. A definitive edition is born that compiles the very early recordings of this charismatic artist when he was still a teenager. The first of Bowie’s valuable sound sources is now available. The memorable first volume is a collection of sound sources that will be the first step for Bowie. Speaking of “THE EARLY DAYS” in the Bowie collection, it generally refers to everything before “SPACE ODDITY”, and is mainly around the 1st album “DAVID BOWIE” released by Deram in 1967. However, the theme of this work is much earlier. From the phantom sound source of the first band David Bowie formed: THE KONRADS, to the 1966 single that had just been renamed “DAVID BOWIE”. This is a compilation that covers all the singles, acetates, interviews, etc. before signing with the Deram label. It was supervised by a world-renowned authority on Bowie research who has worked on numerous masterpieces at our store. There have been various early sound source compilation discs, but none have been as thorough as this in terms of quality and collection. It is truly one of the highest peaks in history. This work is divided into four major sections. Let’s introduce each one individually. [Very early singles (12 songs)] The first singles that appear are the very early singles from 1964 to 1966, when he was only 17 years old. To summarize… ●1964: “Liza Jane” under the name of DAVIE JONES AND THE KING BEES ●1965: “I Pity The Fool” under the name of THE MANISH BOYS ●1965: “You” under the name of DAVY JONES (with THE LOWER THIRD) ‘ve Got A Habit Of Leaving’, ‘Can’t Help Thinking About Me’ – 1966: ‘Do Anything You Say’ and ‘I Dig Everything’ under the name of DAVID BOWIE (with THE BUZZ)…These are the six albums listed above. A total of 12 songs, each including a coupling song. Most of the songs are based on the official initial compilation CD “EARLY ON 1964-66,” but some songs were replaced with different takes/mixes on the official edition. In this work, the original single version is unified and recorded as its best master. In addition, a young Jimmy Page also participated in THE MANISH BOYS’ single. He played lead guitar on “I Pity The Fool” and rhythm guitar on “Take My Tip.” [Alternative versions of very early singles (5 songs)] The next section is a collection of alternative versions of the above singles. There are three songs related to “EARLY ON 1964-66”, including a normal version of the debut song “Liza Jane”, which was out of pitch, and “Take My Tip” and “I Pity The Fool”, which have different vocals. “You’ve Got A Habit Of Leaving” is a version that was included in the compilation “MAKING TIME” by producer Shel Talmy at the time, and the guitar take is different from the regular single. The last “Do Anything You Say” is a different mix version. In both cases, the source is not a new edition, but an official CD that is out of print and extremely rare. You can enjoy the highest quality without worrying about needle snaps. [Demo/acetate take (7 songs)] From here on out are takes unearthed from the even more maniacal demo/acetate take. Let’s sort this out… ●1965: Solo (3 songs) “That’s Where My Heart Is” “I Want My Baby Back” “Bars of the County Jail” ●1965: DAVY JONES (with THE LOWER THIRD) (4 songs) “I’ll Follow You,” “Glad I’ve Got Nobody,” “Baby That’s A Promise,” “Silly Boy Blue” Shel Talmy except for the last two songs “Baby That’s A Promise” and “Silly Boy Blue.” A recording produced by “EARLY ON 1964-66”, carefully selected from the CD version and even better-sounding cassette version. “Baby That’s A Promise” and “Silly Boy Blue” are selected from the best takes of the bootleg version. [Interview & Bonus (3 tracks)] The last section is a historical recording sound source. Interview audio conducted in 1964 and 1966, and THE KONRADS’s phantom sound source “I Never Dreamed” from 1963, Bowie’s oldest. THE KONRADS were Bowie’s first band, formed in early 1962 by Dave Crook (drums) and Neville Wills (guitar). After that, George Underwood (vocals) joined the group, and George’s best friend Devey, who also played the tenor saxophone, was invited. After that, they recorded a rehearsal in 1963, with many member changes. The full story is still unclear, but it was used for just 12 seconds on a BBC news program. This work includes those 12 seconds as a bonus track. This is a treasure collection of 20 songs and 27 tracks. His beat-based and blues-heavy songs have a distinctly mid-60s feel, and his singing voice exudes the honest admiration of a teenager for his predecessors. This is the origin of the rare charismatic David Bowie. It’s interesting because she’s different from her later appearance, and it makes me happy because her youthful voice already has the brilliance of a raw stone. A definitive edition that is an expanded and complete version of “EARLY ON 1964-66” in terms of both sound and volume.
