Description

The best footage from 2003 will be released. This work contains the “October 23, 2003 Cormons performance”. It is an audience shot from the performance at the Italian jazz festival “JAZZ & WINE OF PEACE FESTIVAL 2003”. Alan visits Japan almost every year these days, and we have reported on his live albums such as “TOKYO 2003 FINAL NIGHT” and “KOBE 2004”. These annual visits to Japan were held around Golden Week, but this work is in the fall. It is a concert that is just between the two above. The biggest point of this work is the superb quality. First of all, it is beautiful. From the early 21st century, it is a bit of a mystery whether it is digital or analog, but even by the standards of the digital heyday, it is extremely detailed and beautiful. The image quality is so vivid that it seems like a professional shot or a recent web distribution. And even more wonderful than that is the angle. It’s a shot from the balcony seat facing the stage, but the view is completely taken up by the stage. In the opening scene before the show starts, there is a figure crossing in front of the camera, but once the performance starts, nothing but the members is visible. Furthermore, the stability is also intense. It seems that a tripod is being used, and the scene is crisp without a millimeter of camera shake. Of course, the zoom captures the highlights and skills of the three people, but the scroll is also slow and careful, and there is no camera shake even at the most up-close. Of course, it is a show that does not move from a fixed position, but the vivid beauty captured by the elegant camera work is so fascinating that you forget time. The sound that suits the beauty of the image is also wonderful. Although it is not the type that is “like a sound board,” there is plenty of direct feeling that conveys the small venue even without a view, and you can hear the trio’s entanglement in detail. Moreover, the modest venue sound gives the sound a beautiful sound and conveys the temperature of the scene. This is also very vivid. What can I say, the performance itself feels “presence”. You can immerse yourself in the feeling of “it’s ringing here and now”, which is impossible with a glaring line recording. A show drawn with such quality. This is exactly the memory of the seasonal scenery every spring. The venues would have been different depending on where you live, such as Roppongi Pit Inn, Bottom Line, Live Spot Rag, etc., but Alan’s visit to Japan, which I was looking forward to when the pollen started to get itchy, is vividly revived. The members were slightly different every year, but this work is the same as the 2004 visit to Japan. The bass is Ernest Tibbs, who also came to Japan in 2003, and he plays a half-shuffle beat with a thick sound while focusing on the root. Joe Taylor sits on the stool, replacing Chad Wackerman who joined the 2003 visit to Japan. In 2003, he was said to be “the best visit to Japan in recent years!” and in 2004, he was praised as “even more amazing than last year!”, but this work is engraved with the moment when the fulfilling ensemble grows. Anyway, it’s an extremely elegant and beautiful audience shot. This is a wonderful video work that gives us a rich music time, but it touches us even deeper. Back then, it was natural to look at Alan every year. I thought that luxury would continue forever. Beautiful images, beautiful music, and beautiful memories. This is a piece that vividly brings back memories that already feel like illusions. Live at Teatro Comunale, Cormons, Italy 23rd October 2003 PRO-SHOT 1. Intro 2. Leave’Em On 3. Bo Beep 4.
