Description

A treasured item has been released that recorded a Manchester performance in October 1982, just after the release of the fifth album “Strawberries”! In 1981, Roman Jag joined the band on keyboards and guitar, and the Damned released their fifth album “Strawberries” in October 1982. However, on October 18, 1982, during the turbulent period when bassist Paul Gray left the band, a treasured item has been released that recorded a live performance at The Apollo, a concert hall with a capacity of about 3,500 people in Manchester, with a good stereo audience recording! It was recorded from the low gene master, and since there is little stereo separation, the texture is close to mono, but each part, including vocals and chorus, is very well balanced and recorded with a fairly good sound quality for that time. In addition, the pitch and positioning deviation caused by the master has been carefully corrected. The set list featured five songs from “Strawberries” including the opening number “Ignite”, “Disco Man” and “Limit Club” from the EP “FRIDAY 13TH” released in November 1981, and the encore also featured the rock and roll classic “Hippy Hippy Shake” and The Surfaris’ 1963 single “Wipe Out”. You can enjoy a rare and superb performance from about four months before Paul Gray left the band!
